Prithvi — "Earth," celebrated. Two deep-blue elephants flank the Tree of Life, trunks raised high in gratitude and jubilation, while songbirds weave through branches that reach for the heavens. It is a hymn to the planet and every creature on it — terrestrial and aquatic alike — painted in the joyful, maximalist language of Madhubani folk art.
Prithvi is the Sanskrit word for earth, one of the five great elements alongside sky, air, water, and fire. The artisan composed this piece as an offering of thanks: to soil and rain, to the animals we share the world with, to the sheer abundance of being alive. Wear it as a small daily practice of that gratitude.
The deep blues ground any outfit — beautiful against white linen in summer, striking over a camel coat in winter. At 36" × 36", the pure mulberry silk satin has a luminous hand-feel that makes even a simple jeans-and-tee day feel considered.
Painted exclusively for Naytra Couture by a woman folk artist in India. A portion of every purchase funds cataract surgeries and vision screenings through Silk for Sight.
